Indian Riffle Elementary and Kettering Middle schools were placed on a brief lockdown this afternoon, however the lockdown has been lifted and all students and staff are safe.
School officials said Kettering police informed them of an incident reported to involve a person with a gun near an apartment complex nearby, according to an email from the district.
“Police officers have since reported that the suspect has left the scene and have let the principals at the two schools know that they may lift their lock-downs,” the email said.
Police had responded to a domestic related incident reportedly involving a gun around the same time of the lockdown in the 3200 block of Gracemore, according to dispatch records.
