Dog rescued from fighting now missing

Dayton police said someone stole a dog which had been rescued the day before from dog fighting.

Officers said the dog, named Ryder, was taken from his new owner's car around 2 a.m. Thursday. The owner said he was at Bargo's Grill & Tap on Brown Street helping a fellow employee with some heavy objects. When the owner was done he couldn't find Ryder.

Police said the owner saw several University of Dayton students admiring Ryder before he went inside the restaurant. Ryder's owner told officers he had just adopted the dog the day before, saying he saved the dog from being used for fighting.

Anyone who may see Ryder is asked to call Dayton police at 333-2677.
