Cause, manner of death pending for body found in Dayton home

UPDATE @ 3:50 p.m. (July 15)

The cause and manner of death are pending and results won’t be known for another six to eight weeks in the death of Thomas Bohannon of Dayton, according to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office.

Bohannon, 57, was found dead Wednesday morning inside a South Terry Street home. The resident who found Bohannon’s body said he let him into the house Tuesday night. He said Bohannon was “all bloody” and had been beaten, possibly struck by a vehicle, the resident told investigators. It was not clear why Bohannon did not seek medical attention.

FIRST REPORT

Dayton homicide detectives were requested to a home on South Terry Street after a man was found dead this morning, according to dispatch records.

Officers were on the scene around 11 a.m. in the first block of South Terry Street. The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office responded to remove a man’s body from the home, officials said.

According to a 911 call, the man was found dead by a resident at the home.

“He seems to have been here a while,” the caller told 911 dispatchers. “He got beat up yesterday. A guy hit him with his Jeep.”

The caller told dispatchers he had let the man into the house Tuesday night after he arrived at the residence.

“He came over here all bloody and I washed him up,” the caller said.

The deceased man has been identified as Thomas Bohannon, 57, of Dayton, according to coroner’s office officals.

Dayton police Sgt. Jared King said Bohannon was involved in an altercation yesterday, but it’s not clear if that played a role in his death.

An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday morning.
