Coronavirus: They arrived in cars to feed, pray for area health care workers

UPDATE @ 10:31 p.m.: SouthBrook Christian Church partnered with non-profit Grace2Griddle and Orthopedic Associates of Southwest Ohio to feed health care workers physically and spiritually.

They prepared more than 250 meals to deliver to Southview Medical Center and Sycamore Medical Center on Monday evening.

Then, they encouraged people to join in the facilities’ parking lots for prayer vigils.

“I think we’ve really galvanized a really great group of people,” said Pastor Mendy Fedotowsky.

Dozens of people lined up in their cars to pray for the health care workers.

“Just let those beloved soldiers in there know that we’re supporting them and that we’re out there praying for them,” Fedotowsky said.

A local church is planning to hold two prayer vigils for health care professionals Monday evening.

“They are present day heroes and we want to let them know they are not forgotten,” said SouthBrook Christian Church.

The prayer vigils are planned in two locations.

The church explains how to safely participate in these prayer vigils while keeping social distance.

“You can either drive to these parking lots, turn your parking lights on and stay in your car to pray, stand outside 6 feet apart from others and pray or stay at home and pray,” they said.

“But whatever you do, pray.”

The first will be take place at 4:45 p.m. at Southview Medical Center, 1997 Miamisburg-Centerville Road, in the hospital’s visitor parking lot.

At 5:45 p.m., a second vigil will be held at Sycamore Medical Center, 4000 Miamisburg-Centerville Road.

“It is a small token of appreciation for all of the risks they are taking daily to protect our communities,” said SouthBrook Christian Church.
