I’m a recent transplant to Ohio and the Miami Valley region, and moved to the area to join Channel 7 as a Reporter and Weekend Anchor! I’m originally a Northern California (NorCal) girl, having grown up in both the San Francisco Bay Area and the Sacramento region. I started my career in San Francisco, CA at CBS Radio where I worked as a traffic producer and news editor. While I am new to the Buckeye State, I have experience in the Mid-West! I studied Politics and Media Communications at Calvin University in Grand Rapids, MI. While in college I interned at CBS Chicago. Before coming to Gem City, I worked as a Morning Anchor and Reporter in La Crosse, Wisconsin, where I most notably covered the 2020 Presidential Election, George Floyd protests and Coronavirus Pandemic. Before that I anchored a morning show in Kentucky, and I won the Kentucky Broadcast Award for ‘Best Morning Show’ in the state. My career as a journalist, and interest in journalism, has taken me far and wide! I’ve traveled most of the U.S. and there are only a small handful of states I haven’t been to yet. I’ve also traveled most of Central and South America, Canada, Spain, Turkey and Israel. My favorite destination so far is Peru, and a place I would love to visit is Ghana. While here at WHIO I plan to investigate issues that concern the community, and tell stories that matter!
Ohio will receive 855 of the 37,000 Afghan evacuees coming into the country as part of the U.S. Department of State’s Afghan Placement and Assistance Program, but none will be resettled in the Miami Valley at this time according to a local resettlement agency.
Many area school districts have chosen against teaching the controversial Critical Race Theory. President of the Dayton School Board called the topic too complex for children to grasp at a younger age.
