Fire destroys hay barn near Tipp City

UPDATE @ 11:30 p.m.

No animals were harmed as the barn contained primarily hay and straw, an official said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The barn was leveled. It was not far from the home, but firefighters were able to prevent the flames from spreading to any other structures.

UPDATE @ 9:59 p.m.

Crews from West Milton and Tipp City remain at the scene where a structure was destroyed by flames on a property several yards from the roadway.

One firefighter tells us no people were injured, but it’s unclear whether there were any animals harmed.

FIRST REPORT

Crews are responding to a barn fire in the 6400 block of Kessler Frederick Road near Tipp City.

Flames and smoke were reportedly showing when crews were dispatched shortly before 9 p.m.
