2nd Troy student injured by car in 2 days

An elementary student who was late to school was injured this morning after running into the side of a van.

The 8-year-old student at Heywood Elementary ran into the side of a van at the corner of Ridge and McKaig avenues.

The van ran over the student’s foot and she was taken to Upper Valley Medical Center, according to officials on scene.

Troy police say this is the second pedestrian incident in two days. A Troy Junior High School student was struck by a car driven by a teacher on Wednesday. The student did not have serious injuries.

Medics are on the scene of a reported pedestrian strike near Heywood Elementary in Troy.

Crews were dispatched to the 200 block of South Ridge Avenue around 8:45 a.m. after one person was reported to be hit by a vehicle.
