44-year-old man dead after reported shooting in Dayton

DAYTON — At least one person is dead after a reported shooting in Dayton early Friday morning.

Around 5:55 a.m., crews were dispatched to the 30 block of Illinois Ave on reports of a shooting, according to a Montgomery County Regional Dispatch Sergeant.

When officers got to the scene, they found a 44-year-old man in a vacant lot, according to Dayton Police Lieutenant Eric Sheldon.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, and the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office responded.

The reported shooting is under investigation by the Dayton Police Department’s Homicide Unit.
