‘I hope they don’t do this to us again;’ Some streets still closed as crews tear down NATO fencing

DAYTON — City crews are working on getting Downtown Dayton back to normal after the NATO parliamentary assembly.

As reported on News Center 7 Daybreak, crews continue to tear down miles of fencing in Downtown Dayton.

The Dayton Police Department announced Monday night that the roads closed due to NATO were back open.

They said on social media that Monument Avenue is back open.

“Work is continuing and progressing to open additional roads downtown as fencing and barriers are being removed,” the department said.

The department said Tuesday that East Second Street from Main to Patterson is still closed and is expected to open by the end of the day.

All other roads have opened.

Some people are glad things are back to normal.

“I hope they don’t do this to us again because it was just too big of an inconvenience,” said Christine Pollard. “I had to come out of the front of the building and go across to the North Main bridge and around that river just to get to the store

One woman was glad that NATO was here in Dayton.

“I’m very excited that they came today and that we are a wonderful city,” said Loree Overman. “Yeah it was fine, we’ve been down or I’ve been down to eat.”

Crews continue to work on removing the fencing around Downtown Dayton.

Courthouse Square will be their last stop.
