“There is pressure with that, and that’s what we strive to keep doing each year, a little bit more, a little bit better,” Kevin Franklin, the Executive Director of the Dayton Air Show, said.

They’ve been working since last year’s 50th Anniversary show wrapped to make sure this year’s show tops last year.

One focus is making sure the show isn’t just in the air, but also on the ground.

They plan to have more than 80 different interactive displays.

“We want stuff where the kids, the families, to be able to go out and interact, get in those the simulators and different things, because that really makes your day,” Franklin said.

One of those displays is the Good Year Blimp. The blimp will be making its first Dayton Air Show appearance in more than 20 years.

“You can come out and touch it, take pictures with it. They said you just can’t get inside it,” Franklin said.

The United States Air Force Thunderbirds are also returning to the show, but this time they will have a Wright State Graduate on the team.

“It’s fantastic when that happens because, you know, it’s our hometown folks, you know, we want that for everything we can get. So, having it with the Thunderbird years is very special this year,” Franklin said.

The acts are set, the staff is ready, and now there is just one thing left to worry about.

“All I need is the weather to cooperate with me,” Franklin said.

Now is the best time to buy tickets, according to Air Show staff. There are deals on family tickets and individual general admission.
