DAYTON — Today marks seven years since the deadly mass shooting in the Oregon District.
On Aug. 4, 2019, a gunman killed nine people and injured dozens more outside of a bar.

As reported on News Center 7 Daybreak, it took Dayton Police Officers 32 seconds to stop Connor Betts from shooting at people.

These are the victims of the attack:
Lois Oglesby was a 27-year-old mom of two.
Megan Betts was a 22-year-old college student and the attacker’s sister.
Nicholas Cumer was a 25-year-old graduate student who was in town for an internship.
30-year-old Logan Turner was described as the “world’s best son” by his mom.
Thomas McNichols, known as a “gentle giant,” was a father to four children.
Derrick Fudge, who died at 57 years old, had a dog named Lucy, and he loved his family very much.
Friends Monica Brickhouse and Beatrice Warren-Curtis both lost their lives.
Saeed Saleh, a 39-year-old father, had just moved to the U.S. with his wife two years before the attack.
In a security video, bouncers outside of the bars can be seen directing people away from Betts.
A report that was released in 2021 by the FBI and the Dayton Police Department said Betts illegally bought a gun, body armor, and a 100-round magazine.
Five years after the attack, the City of Dayton unveiled the “Seed of Life” memorial.
Thousands of people have contributed to the memorial to honor the victims.
