Jordan Parker has a lawn care business. He told News Center 7’s Malik Patterson that he was preparing to cut some customers’ lawns on Sunday.
When he and his girlfriend went outside to get into their car, they noticed a hole in the back window.
“It definitely made us both angry. We were actually pretty furious about it,” said Parker.
He said that he immediately called the police.
Springfield Police told Patterson that officers responded to over half a dozen calls on this. They continue to investigate.
Parker said he went on social media and saw similar issues across Springfield.
“Same tiles, windows just randomly being busted. Nothing in the car is being touched, just people going around, shattering windows,” he said.
The photos show two different pieces of tile that damaged different cars, with others being on East Rose and Claremont Streets.
Parker said the next thing he did was clean out the glass.
“That was about three hours’ worth of cleaning because there was glass from the trunk all the way up on the dashboard,” he told Patterson.
Parker called his insurance company to see how much it would cost to replace the window.
“If I go to a junkyard, it’s going to be $300,” he said. “If I go through Subaru or somewhere, it’s going to be upwards of $1300 to $1400.”
Parker and other people say they hope Springfield Police catch the person or people responsible soon.
But they are all confused as to why and where the tile came from.
“It’s almost like they were doing a remodel job and just came up on a bunch of the white slab that did it,” said Parker.
News Center 7 has contacted Springfield to see if they have anyone in custody.
We will continue to follow this story.
