CLINTON COUNTY — UPDATE @ 1:36 p.m.:
Investigators have found another child dead after a house fire in Clinton County on Tuesday morning.

Clinton County EMA confirmed that a fifth child was found dead Tuesday afternoon.
In total, six people have died and one has been hospitalized from this house fire.
The investigation into the fire is ongoing.
INITIAL REPORT:
A mother and her four children were killed in a house fire in Clinton County on Tuesday morning.

The fire was reported near Spring Hill and West Main Street in Clarksville around 6:40 a.m., according to Thomas Breckle, Clinton County EMA Director.
First responding crews began water suppression and entry into the home.
Around 6:51 a.m., they located a man inside the home. He was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Fire conditions inside the home impacted the firefighters’ ability to get up the stairs and to the second floor of the home, according to Breckle.
Crews were able to eventually get to the second floor by other means. There, they found a mother, an infant, and three other children deceased in a bedroom.
Breckle added that crews are working to determine if a fifth child was in the home at the time of the fire.
Eight firefighters were injured in the fire. They were each treated and released at the scene.
The State Fire Marshal has been contacted to assist in the fire investigation.
