On July 13, Officer Marlett was in Dayton when he saw an elderly woman who was being physically assaulted during an attempted robbery.
Without hesitation, Marlett and another citizen stopped the assault and detained the suspect until local law enforcement could arrive.
Investigators determined that the suspect intended to steal the woman’s purse, along with her vehicle.
The victim sustained minor injuries, and a potentially much more serious outcome was prevented due to Marlett’s intervention.
