VANDALIA — A man was detained after SWAT was called to a Vandalia neighborhood.

As reported on News Center 7 at 11, police were called to the 800 block of Sussex Place around 10 p.m.

Dispatchers got a call from that address reporting that someone had shot their mother, according to Capt. Ben Walker with the Vandalia Police Department.
Police could see movement inside the home, but no one came out.
SWAT was called around 11 p.m.
After breaching the door, a man came to the door and was detained around 11:20 p.m.
No one else was found inside the home, and no injuries were reported.
Walker said police have a history at the address and with the man taken into custody.
Police are continuing to investigate why the call was made and if the man made the call or is the victim of a swatting.
