UPDATE: I-75 reopened after icy conditions forced temporary closures near Downtown Dayton

DAYTON — UPDATE @ 11:57 a.m.:

I-75 Northbound is reopened to traffic.

The Dayton police department shared on social media that the vehicles that were involved in crashes have been removed, and salt trucks have been able to treat roads.

“Remember to please drive carefully, no matter the road, because there could be slick areas due to the temperature,” the department said in their post.

Icy road conditions are causing issues on Interstate 75 in Dayton.

Dayton Police shared on social media that I-75 northbound at US 35 is going to be closed so that crews can salt and treat the road.

In an update, police said they’re working to shut down I-75 southbound near Second Street so that southbound lanes could be treated as well.

“Please use alternate routes while officers and crews work to respond in this area,” police wrote.

At least one crash has been reported in the area, causing a traffic backup.

Initial information about injuries was not immediately available.
