DAYTON — A vacant apartment building in Dayton will be demolished after a fire early Saturday morning, according to a spokesperson with the Dayton Fire Department.

As reported on News Center 7 at 6, the fire was reported in the area of Ridge Avenue and N Main Street around 4:50 a.m.

Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy fire coming from the 2-story vacant apartment building at 1939 and 1941 Riverside Drive.
Firefighters had to battle the flames from outside the building due to advanced fire conditions and the possibility of collapse, the spokesperson said.
The fire was controlled and the building was considered a total loss.
The Incident Commander called for an emergency demolition of the building.
No injuries were reported on scene.
The spokesperson said the cause of this fire is under investigation by the DFD Fire Investigations Unit.
