Firefighters arrived on the south side of the dam and found that a kayaker had fallen out of his boat and was clinging to it in the middle of a small current in the river.
The kayaker didn’t have a life vest, but was treading water.
Follick said the man couldn’t get the kayak out of the current on his own.
A fisherman tried to help the kayaker, but called for help when they were unsuccessful.
Rescue crews quickly got the kayaker a rope and then a life vest.
Follick said they used a rope to pull the man to shore.
Medics took the man to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
