JACKSON CENTER — A gas leak is causing some evacuations in Jackson Center.

A gas line was hit in the area of the 200 block of W. Pike Street around 2 p.m., according to village officials.

All residents and businesses within a half-mile radius are advised to shelter in place immediately.
Please take the following precautions:
- Stay indoors.
- Close and secure all windows and doors.
- Turn off all HVAC systems, including air conditioning, heating, and ventilation.
- If you are driving, turn off your heat and air conditioning and leave the area if it is safe to do so.
- Do not drive around barricades or enter restricted areas.
In an update, village leaders said the village would experience a power outage due to the leak.
