Driver killed in I-70 crash identified

BROOKVILLE — A 29-year-old man is dead after a multi-crash on Interstate 70 in Brookville, Wednesday afternoon, according to an Ohio State Highway Patrol spokesperson.

The crash occurred at approximately 2:22 p.m. on I-70 westbound near Arlington Road.

A preliminary investigation found that the crash occurred when a Buick LeSabre tried to make a left turn from the right lane of I-70 to access the emergency vehicle crossover, the spokesperson said.

Lavan Stark, 29, of Dayton, was driving the Buick.

While turning, Stark was hit by a Kenworth semi-truck driven by a 52-year-old man from West Virginia, the spokesperson said.

After hitting the car, the semi-truck crashed into the trailer of another Kenworth semi-truck. This semi was driven by a 30-year-old California man.

Stark was pronounced dead on scene, according to the spokesperson.

It is unclear if anyone else was injured in this crash.

The interstate reopened just after 5 p.m.

This crash remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol Dayton Post.
