Since then, Thomas Albert has been a murder suspect in Springfield for four and a half years.

Clark County prosecutors said that Albert was dating Prunty in the summer of 2015.

Prunty then broke off their relationship.

Prosecutors say there is cell phone data evidence that ties Albert to the murder, and he was allegedly upset about the breakup.

“When she told him no, he wouldn’t accept it,” said Aaron Heskett, assistant Clark County Prosecutor.

Albert’s defense lawyer said that there were “other men” involved in Prunty’s life who had more damming evidence against them.

“He’s not some scorned lover that was so upset he had to turn to murder. He’s someone who understood he had a primary physical relationship and it was time to move on to the next one,” said Anthony Satariano, Albert’s defense lawyer.

The trial is expected to last for three days before the jury reaches a verdict.
