The family told News Center 7’s Malik Patterson that they are glad that the woman is still alive and that deputies found the person they think is responsible.

Camya Grant said that she could not sleep early Sunday morning.

“I heard some people yelling outside. So, I looked out my window, but I couldn’t see anything,” she said. “So, I was just going to sit back down.”

But the argument got louder.

“Then, my mom, she was looking out her window in the front right there, and she was like, ‘Do you guys see these girls outside fighting?’” Grant told Patterson.

That’s when Grant’s mom said to call the police.

Less than a minute later, they saw something.

“The girl got out of the car, and her friend, or whoever was in the car, she reversed out of the parking lot, out of the parking spot, and then hit her and ran her over, and she just kept going,” said Grant.

The family immediately ran out to help.

“My brothers and my mom went outside to help her, and then I went outside,” said Grant. “She was not moving or talking. Her arm was broken, and she was very unconscious.”

She said that deputies and medics quickly arrived. But Grant was still worried.

“They took a long time to get her on the stretcher and in the ambulance,” she said. “We literally saw that lady get hit and then get run over. I was so shaken up.”

As previously reported by News Center 7, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office said a person is in custody. They are facing felonious assault charges.

Grant told Patterson that she was happy her whole family was awake to help that person.

“It was pretty late, so who would’ve been up to see it?”

News Center 7 is working to learn the victim’s condition and the name of the person in custody.

We will continue to update this developing story.
