News Center 7 learned that another 18-year-old was arrested for reckless homicide. We discovered that Manuel Perez, 18, was arrested Tuesday night and booked on the same charge.

Reporter Mason Fletcher talked with three neighbors to see what they knew. None of them wanted to go on-camera, but said they did not hear gunfire.

They all said Cobb always had a smile on his face and was friendly with neighbors. They also said Cobb was a senior at Dayton Public Schools and was preparing to graduate soon.

News Center 7 reached out to Dayton Public Schools to confirm if Cobb was a student, but we have not heard back at this time.

Dayton has seen several teen lives cut short because of guns, and Mayor Jeffrey Mims is working to implement the Violence Interruption Program. Mims cited a 20 to 30 percent reduction in crime through the program’s first year, but when asked if it would start after Memorial Day, he said, “No. It will be sooner than that.”

Memorial Day is Monday and there has not been any indication that the program will be implemented over the weekend.

Dayton Police said homicide detectives are investigating the shooting. They said the next step is to bring the case to the county prosecutor’s office for any potential charges.
