Veronica Godsey discovered her Hyundai Elantra was missing for a fourth time on Sunday.

She filed a police report, but then began to look for it with her daughter. As reported on News Center 7 at 5:00, her granddaughter’s earpods helped track it down.

“Pinged where my car was located,” Godsey said.

They ended up finding the car sitting behind an abandoned home on Euclid Avenue.

“A disappointment that I worked so hard to have something nice and somebody wants to take it away from me and my grandchildren,” she told News Center 7’s Mike Campbell.

Godsey called Dayton Police when she found her car in the hidden, overgrown back lot because she didn’t just spot her car.

“We recovered two other citizens’ cars that are probably thinking, ‘Dang, why me?’” she said.

After realizing other potential stolen cars were back there, Godsey and her daughter called the police.

News Center 7 was there when officers went into the back lot and confirmed two more stolen cars. They then called tow trucks in to haul the stolen vehicles out of their hiding spots.

Godsey said her car has been stolen four times, and they have to resort to the way teens steal cars just to keep the car running until they can make repairs.

The last time her car was stolen, the thief crashed it, damaging it so badly, she can’t lock the doors correctly. She bought a club, a steering wheel lock, but thieves cut it off this time.

The repeated thefts have left the family shell-shocked.

“It’s very disgusting, and I don’t know what to do,” Godsey said.

In an effort to keep your Hyundai vehicle protected from theft, the company is offering anti-theft software updates. For more information on the update, click here.
