Today, our I-Team uncovered that this is not the first time she’s faced felony theft charges here in the Miami Valley.

News Center 7 I-Team Reporter John Bedell dug up details on a previous conviction as the suspect faced a judge for the first time in her current case.

This morning, a judge in Montgomery County told Jamie Grant she won’t need any money to get out of jail.

The paper trail the i-Team uncovered showed a judge in Greene County sent her to prison when she admitted to stealing tens of thousands of dollars in this community.

Grant faced a judge in Montgomery County for the first time on Thursday.

A judge gave her an “own recognizance” bond, meaning she can be released from jail without having to pay cash.

Instead, she promised to show up for future court dates.

She also had to give up her passport, and the judge told her she would be on house arrest with a GPS ankle monitor.

Grant pleaded “not guilty” to a felony charge of aggravated theft.

But new Thursday, the I-Team uncovered that Grant pleaded guilty to a felony theft charge in Greene County in 2008.

Court records show that as part of her sentence in Greene County, a judge ordered Grant to repay restitution to the tune of nearly $29,000 she stole in that case.

In June 2008, another part of her sentence was 17 months in prison.

Court records show the judge granted her request for an early release in December 2008 after serving roughly six months.

In the Greene County case, the I-Team is still working to confirm exactly who or where Grant admitted to stealing the money from.

Sheriff Rob Streck first told us last week where they said the money came from in Grant’s current case in Montgomery County.

“Six years she worked there, and from what it sounds like, she started doing it pretty early on in her professional career there,” Streck said.

Investigators say Grant stole nearly $850,000 from Nephrology Associates of Ohio in Washington Township, where she worked as a business manager.

“We do know what she was using the money for and let’s just say it wasn’t for charity work. It was so (she) and her family could pretty much do whatever they wanted,” Streck said.

The I-Team confirmed, as of today, Grant still owes just shy of $9,000 in restitution in the Greene County case.

Court documents show her most recent restitution payment was $500 toward what she owes here in Greene County with a credit card back in March.
