Miami County deputies walked 39-year-old Caleb Flynn into the courtroom about an hour later than expected. The delay was due to new court-imposed restrictions on the number of cameras allowed in the courtroom.
During the hearing on Monday, Miami County Common Pleas Court Judge Jeannine N. Pratt granted a motion to delay the hearing that was supposed to take place, but then set a trial date for Flynn’s case.
Pratt said the trial would begin on April 28 and span two weeks.

As reported on News Center 7 at 5:00, most criminal defendants decline their right to a speedy trial, but Flynn and his lawyers are not doing that as of now.
As News Center 7 previously reported, the investigation began on Feb. 16 at Caleb and Ashley Flynn’s home on Cunningham Court in Tipp City after he called 911 and seemed to indicate someone had come into the home from outside and shot his wife.
“I don’t know what to do,” he said in the 911 call previously obtained by News Center 7.
News Center 7 also obtained police body camera video that showed Flynn walking outside the house and hugging a woman believed to be Ashley’s mother.
Tipp City Police gathered enough information and potential evidence that they felt comfortable arresting Flynn three days later.
He was indicted on multiple counts in connection with Ashley’s death earlier this month. Those charges include aggravated murder, assault, tampering with evidence, and intimidation.
Flynn’s next court hearing next week may set a date for his request to seal the court documents from public view.
“We will be having discussions internally and outside of the office about that particular issue,” Patrick Mulligan, Flynn’s defense attorney, said in court on Monday.
He’s currently being held in the Miami County Jail on a $3.5 million bond.
