Crime scene tape blocks Dayton apartment complex after reported shooting

DAYTON — Authorities are investigating reports of a shooting at a Dayton apartment complex on Tuesday night.

As reported on News Center 7 at 11:00, Dayton police were called to the 600 block of Ingram Street on reports of a shooting before 8 p.m.

On scene, our crews saw a large portion of the parking lot blocked by crime scene tape and several Dayton police officers.

Video also shows a car in the parking lot riddled with apparent bullet holes.

News Center 7 obtained the 911 call that got police to the scene.

The caller told dispatchers that someone shot her son.

“Somebody got shot?” the dispatcher asked.

The caller said her teenage son was in the car when someone opened fire.

She said she didn’t know if her son was okay becuase she was too scared to go outside.

“Is anybody injured, or is it just a shooting outside?” the dispatcher said. “I need you to tell me what’s going on.”

The caller just told dispatch that she wasn’t sure what happened, just that “her baby” was hurt.

The call lasted almost two and a half minutes before it abruptly ended.

A Montgomery County dispatch supervisor previously told News Center 7 that this was an active investigation and couldn’t share additional details.

Additional details weren’t immediately available.
