DARKE COUNTY — UPDATE @ 6:15 A.M.
A medical helicopter transported a driver to the hospital after a suspected OVI crash in Darke County on Friday.

Deputies and medics responded at around 2:40 a.m. to the 2000 block of State Route 705 on a reported crash, according to the Darke County Sheriff’s Office.
CareFlight transported Ryan Bruggeman, 44, to Miami Valley Hospital for his injuries.

An initial investigation showed that Bruggeman drove a 2003 Ford F-150 west on SR-705. At that time, a 2025 Mack Anthem was going east on SR-705.
The pick-up truck went left of center and hit the semi-trailer. The Ford went off the road and hit a tree, the sheriff’s office said.
Medics treated Bruggeman until CareFlight arrived and took him to Miami Valley Hospital. His condition is currently unknown.
Alcohol is a suspected factor in the crash, and Bruggemen was not wearing this seat belt at the time of the crash, the sheriff’s office stated.
The semi driver was treated and released at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
