News Center 7 obtained several 911 calls related to the shooting.

“We were having a party, and they came by the party shooting,” one caller said. “We just need someone to come. We don’t know who it was.”

News Center 7’s Malik Patterson said 911 calls for help flooded Clark County dispatchers on Saturday.

“All I heard were shots, and I don’t know. I had to take the kids to the basement,” a woman told dispatchers. “I don’t know who’s alive. Like it was a small area. There were shots everywhere.”

The callers indicated that several shots were fired Saturday night.

“We just heard about 20 shots, and then the car taking off. You can hear people crying,” another caller said.

As previously reported by News Center 7, a city of Springfield spokesperson said that a person died at the scene. Two others were flown to Miami Valley Hospital with serious injuries. Medics transported the other two victims to area hospitals.

Patterson spoke with Shawn Thomas and Heidi Miller, who live a few doors from the shooting. Family members called them to see if they were okay. It was not until they stepped out that they saw what had happened.

“It (was) just swarming with cops, a couple of them chilling over in the side yard here by the house, looking for any extra shell casings or any other possibility of a runner or body,” said Thomas.

Miller said that she began to panic.

“I was checking my four-year-old bedroom for bullet holes in her bedroom wall because of how close the shots were, and I just prayed,” she told Patterson.

Patterson reports that Saturday’s shooting has left the neighborhood on edge.

“I can’t imagine, like, how some of the older community is taking it,” said Thomas. “To see it happen this close to home is really frightening.”

News Center 7 has contacted Springfield Police for more information about a possible suspect and how the shooting victims are doing.

We will continue to update this developing story.
