CLARK COUNTY — Hundreds of couples who have spent at least five decades all celebrated their love today.

As reported on News Center 7 at 5:00 p.m., every couple who attended the ‘Golden Wedding’ at the Clark County Fair has been married for at least 50 years.

News Center 7’s Taylor Robertson asked some of them if they remember what life was like before they met.
Roy and Marty Rogers have been married for 64 years. This is their second time attending the Clark County Fair’s Golden Wedding.
“We just kept saying we weren’t old enough, but we found out that we are,” they said.
Mary and Richard Lykins aren’t far behind the Rogers. They’ve been together for 63 years.
Humor has been at the Center of their relationship all these years. They met at a gas station in Springfield and have been in love ever since.
“I was working there and her dad came to work there and he always, she always brought him a great big meal for Sunday while he’s working. I never got nothing but a cracker. So all of a sudden, there she come with two meals. I said ‘this girl can cook’,” Richard said.
“But it was really my mother that was doing the cooking,” Mary said.
The Lykins have come to the Golden Wedding for the past thirteen years.
“I wore the same shirt thirteen times,” Richard said.
They love being surrounded by couples that know what it means to stay committed to another person.
Jim and Chryll Koster say after 55 years married together, they have some advice for other couples looking for this kind of commitment.
“Just love each other. And it’s important to have your faith be part of it and to be in church and to stay true to what you believe in,” they said.
