DAYTON — A former Stivers High School teacher convicted of a child porn charge will avoid prison time, but has to register as a sex offender.

John S. Findley, 35, was sentenced to community control Friday.

Six other charges were dismissed.

He has to register as a Tier 2 sex offender and give up his teaching certificate.

Findley pleaded guilty to pandering obscenity involving a minor in November.

He was indicted on seven pandering obscenity charges in September 2017.

Findley was accused of filming obscene images of a minor between November 2015 and August 2016, as well as promoting the sale or spreading of obscene material in August 2016.

Dayton Public Schools placed him on leave during the 2016-17 school year after a detective was assigned to Findley’s case.

He resigned July 9, 2017.
