DARKE COUNTY — 100 rabbits and 15 goats were inside a barn on Wednesday morning when it caught fire.
The Bradford Fire Department responded to a call of a barn fully engulfed just before 2:30 a.m. near U.S State Route 36 and Smith Road, according to Bradford Fire Chief Ron Hoelscher.

As reported by News Center 7’s Xavier Hershovitz on News Center 7’s Daybreak, a passerby saw the fire as they were driving down the road and woke the homeowners up.

Most of the animals were able to get out.
Firefighters are working to determine the number of animals that were not able to get out.
The barn, along with some farm equipment that was outside of the barn have been determined to be a total loss, said Hoelscher.
The damages could cost between $80,000 to $90,000.
The cause of the fire is unknown.
Seven other departments in the area provided mutual aid to the scene.
