DAYTON — The Dayton Fire Department is mourning the loss of a lieutenant.

Fire Lieutenant Scott Johnson died unexpectedly on Thursday while off-duty, the department confirmed.

Johnson served the City of Dayton for 22 years.
“Lieutenant Johnson was an experienced leader at Company 10, Platoon 1, and his absence will be deeply felt by those who had the honor of working alongside him and those he served in the Dayton community,” the department said in a statement.
Funeral arrangements are pending.
