SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP — A child was hit by a vehicle and hurt in Clark County on Tuesday afternoon.

The crash was reported in the 600 block of Vale Road in Springfield Township around 2:35 p.m.

A preliminary investigation found that an 82-year-old New Carlisle man was driving south on Vale Road when he struck the child.
A state trooper on the scene told News Center 7 that a 9-year-old boy was hit while chasing after a ball.
The child was taken to Springfield Regional Medical Center by ambulance, and then CareFlight took them to Dayton Children’s Hospital with serious injuries.
The trooper at the scene said the boy was expected to be okay.
The driver of the Chevrolet was not injured.
The crash remains under investigation.
