4 indicted after 16 children found in ‘deplorable conditions’

VINTON COUNTY — A grand jury indicted four people accused of child endangerment on Friday, according to Ohio Attorney General Andy Wilson.

73-year-old Gary Siders, 68-year-old Christina Siders, 36-year-old Gary Siders Jr., and 33-year-old Elizabeth Siders have been charged with 16 counts each of endangering children, according to a previous report.

  • 10 counts of endangering children (F3)
  • Six counts of endangering children (M1)

Christina was indicted on charges of:

  • Two counts of endangering children (F2)
  • 10 counts of endangering children (F3)
  • Seven counts of endangering children (M1)

Gary Jr. was indicted on charges of:

  • Two counts of endangering children (F2)
  • 10 counts of endangering children (F3)
  • Seven counts of endangering children (M1)

Elizabeth was indicted on charges of:

  • Two counts of endangering children (F2)
  • 10 counts of endangering children (F3)
  • Seven counts of endangering children (M1)

Gary Jr. and Elizabeth were also indicted on two counts each of sexual battery and two counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor in a different case.

In the weeks since their arrests, all four Siders requested and were ordered to undergo competency evaluations.

The four Siders were charged in June after a search warrant led to the discovery of 16 children in “deplorable conditions,” officials said.

The children that were found were between the age 18 months and 18-years-old.
