Kentucky Derby forecast: What to expect

It’s the time of year again where folks dawn their Sunday best or look like a resident of the “Capital” in the Hunger Games. Yes, I’m talking about the fastest two minutes in sports, the Kentucky Derby.

Some years are unbearably hot, others are soaking wet, this year looks like it will be the latter.

A storm system that has plagued the eastern half of the nation will be giving Louisville, Kentucky the blues with on and off again showers Friday afternoon and steady rain, heavy at times for Saturday. That will leave many of the dirt tracks on the muddy side. It looks like many of the dapperly-dressed on-lookers will have to have to weave some sort of rain gear into their fashion repertoire this weekend.

Temperatures will be warm and a little muggy Friday, in the upper 70s but will fall back into the upper 60s for Saturday. Just as the festivities end, the weather pattern turns more pleasant on Sunday.
