UPDATE: Coroner ID’s 51-year-old Dayton man as victim of deadly shooting

DAYTON — UPDATE @ 12:05 p.m.:

Glenn E. Phillips, 51, of Dayton has been identified as the victim of a deadly shooting on Victor Avenue in Dayton early Friday morning, according to Montgomery County Coroner Dr. Kent Harshbarger.

Phillips’ cause of death was still under investigation, Harshbarger said.

Additional details were not released.


FIRST REPORT

One person is dead after an officer discovered a shooting victim on Victor Avenue early Friday morning, according to Dayton police.

The shooting victim was discovered by the Dayton police officer in the 100 block of Victor Avenue around 4:45 a.m.

The identity of the victim was not released, pending identification and notification of family by the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office.

A second medic unit responded to the scene around 7 a.m. after a person walked to the scene with a gunshot wound to their hand. The condition of the second victim wasn’t immediately known and police were working to determine the victim’s possible connections to the original shooting incident.

Police said additional details about the circumstances surrounding the shooting were still under investigation.

Officers urged anyone with information about the shooting that could help investigators to contact Dayton police or the Miami Valley Crime Stoppers.
