Police continue search for car involved in crash that killed 3 women, injured 2 children

GERMAN TWP. — German Twp. police are continuing their search for a third car involved in a crash that killed 3 women, injured an adult and critically injured three children.

The crash happened Friday afternoon in the 4900 block of State Route 4. Katie Roberts, 31, and her mother Rebecca Roberts, 61, were both killed in the crash, along with Ashley Mance, 26. Mance’s children, identified by family as 7-year-old Averly Johnson and 23-month-old Andrew Johnson, Jr., who goes by “AJ,” were taken to Dayton Children’s Hospital in critical condition.

An adult male was also injured.

German Twp. police said they continue to look for a black or dark colored vehicle that was involved in the crash and fled the scene. Police were able to make contact with the driver of a car that was captured on a neighbor’s Ring doorbell immediately following the crash, but the driver has been ruled out as a suspect.

“It is our belief that at no time was the driver on State Route 4, south of Market Street, nor is there any way his vehicle could have deviated from the route he claimed to take,” German Twp. police said in a Facebook post.
