Vacant Trotwood Wendy’s featured in ‘Scary Places’ Burger King campaign

TROTWOOD — A vacant Salem Avenue Wendy’s is one of five locations nationwide being used as part of Burger King’s “Scary Places” promotion, which gives people a chance to earn a free Whopper sandwich.

The restaurant located at 5196 Salem Ave. is the only Ohio location included in the promotion.

According to Burger King’s website, customers have to download the BK app on their mobile device and use the app within 300 feet of the abandoned restaurant to get a free Whopper coupon.

“They’re the terrifying, abandoned restaurants where burgers for years were not flame grilled,” Burger King says on its website. “Forget entering a haunted house this year, and get near one of the scary places below to get a free flame grilled treat instead.”

Burger King told customers not to trespass onto the private property.

The promotion also includes abandoned restaurants in Texas, Alabama, Illinois and Rhode Island.
