Two tubers missing since Saturday night rescued from Indiana river

The Butler County Sheriff’s Office Aviation Unit responded to Wayne County to help search for two tubers who had been missing since Saturday night.

Two people were reportedly water tubing on the Whitewater River around 10:46 p.m. when their water tube got caught up on a dam and caused it to rip, according to a release from the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.

“Unfamiliar with the area and in the darkened conditions, the couple were unable to navigate their way out of the river bank,” the release said.

At around 7:15 a.m. Sunday, Indiana Conservation Officers located the two people near Whitaker Rd. and Neuman Lake Rd. with through using a drone.

Neither of the tubers were injured.

Officers from the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, the Butler County Ohio Aviation Unit, Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, Indiana Department of Natural Resources, Cambridge City Police Department, Reid Health Medic, and the Richmond Fire Department Drone Team responded to the area to search for the missing water tubers.
