Several schools dismiss early, cancel classes Wednesday because of heat

The fourth heat wave of the summer has some schools already planning to dismiss early again Wednesday.

Northridge Local Schools will be closed Wednesday.

Fairborn City Schools also announced weather-related early dismissals again for Wednesday. Fairborn Intermediate and Baker Middle schools will dismiss at noon. Fairborn Primary School will release at 12:45 p.m. with no morning or afternoon preschool.

Clark-Shawnee Local Schools announced they will dismiss 90 minutes early.

Greenon Local Schools will have a two-hour early dismissal again Wednesday.

Northeastern Local Schools will dismiss early. The elementary will release students at 1 p.m., the high school at 2 p.m. and the middle school at 2:10 p.m.

Preble-Shawnee Local Schools also will again be on a two-hour early dismissal.

Sidney City Schools also will be on a two-hour early release Wednesday, with no afternoon latchkey.

Tipp City Schools will dismiss Broadway Elementary and Nevin Coppock Elementary students two hours early again on Wednesday.

Troy City Schools will release students two hours early.

Valley View Schools also will dismiss students two hours early.

A heat wave in this region is a stretch of three or more 90-degree days in a row.
