News Center 7’s John Bedell spoke with Ohio Senator Jon Husted in a one-on-one interview on Tuesday morning.
Husted was asked what the message is that he hopes to deliver to Ohioans, particularly in the Miami Valley, ahead of Election Day.
“Look, I will fight for you,” Husted responded. “I represent Ohio values. Sherrod Brown represents Washington values. He’s been there for over 50 years.”

News Center 7 has asked Brown for the same one-on-one interview several times as recently as last week, but his campaign staff said he does not have time in his schedule.
We heard from Brown at a campaign stop in Dayton Monday night.
“Ohio’s fighting back. You’re showing up, you’re insisting on change, you are demanding a senator who will work for Ohio,” Brown told the crowd.
Husted will be on the campaign trail with President Donald Trump Wednesday in Chillicothe. President Trump and Vice President JD Vance have been stumping for Husted across Ohio for the last two months.
As shown on News Center 7 at 5:00, Bedell asked Husted what he makes of the attention the Ohio Senate race is receiving nationally and from the White House.
“Well, it has national ramifications, so Ohio often does in political campaigns,” Husted responded. “It’s great to have people like that president, vice president, many others come to our state.”
Husted and Brown are giving their final pitches to voters in a race that will be a key contest for control of the Senate.
“There’s a long list of things that I’ve done to help create jobs, to create opportunity, to fight for Ohio values, and I need their support, and I ask for your vote,” Husted said.
At his campaign event on Monday, Brown urged people to make a plan to vote.
“Talk to your family members, talk to your friends at church, talk to your neighbors, and don’t forget, most importantly, don’t forget the power that your voice holds,” Brown said.
After Governor Mike DeWine appointed Husted to the Senate last year, this is a special Senate election in Ohio to serve what’s left of Vice President Vance’s Senate term. Ohioans elected Vance to the Senate in 2022, so whoever wins this race will have to run for re-election in 2028.
