Red Cross helping family after heavy fire damages house in Indiana

UNION CITY, IN — The Red Cross is helping a family after a heavy fire damaged a house in Indiana.

Union City firefighters responded at 12:10 p.m. Thursday to the 700 block of State Route 571 West on initial reports of a structure fire, according to a social media post.

Upon arrival, they dealt with heavy fire and smoke from the back of the house.

The department posted photos on its Facebook page. It showed flames in the back of the house.

Firefighters contained it and limited the damage to the back of the home.

No injuries were reported.

The Red Cross has been contacted to help support the affected family.

Mutual aid was provided by the Ansonia Volunteer Fire Department, Liberty Township Fire Department, and Greenville Township Emergency Services.
