The decision to cease operations at the facility comes as Panera is rolling out a new bakery-operating model to its cafes. They plan to partner with artisan bakers to make baked goods that’ll be finished in the cafes.
All 70 employees at the facility will have their employment permanently terminated.
The termination of employment for all 70 employees is effective between May 20 and 22.
“Panera is offering all affected employees many forms of support throughout this transition, including a severance package, assistance locating other jobs within Panera and outplacement services, including a job fair on April 20, 2026,” the notice stated.
