Task force releases results from Sunday’s OVI checkpoint in Dayton

DAYTON — UPDATE: May 30 @ 1:15 a.m.

The Montgomery County Combined Agency OVI Task Force has announced the results from two OVI checkpoints conducted Sunday night.

The first checkpoint was conducted at North Gettysburg and Kings Highway.

There were two OVI arrests made for a person over 21.

According to the police department, 677 vehicles went through the checkpoint. 66 of the vehicles were diverted for checks.

There were 35 citations issued for driving under suspension. 20 citations were issued for driving without a license.

Two adults and three children were found to not be wearing their seatbelts.

One warrant was served.

Saturation patrol by the Ohio State Patrol made one felony arrest.

They found four drivers without licenses and their warnings were given.

One vehicle did flee the OVI checkpoint and a pursuit was initiated.

INITIAL REPORT:

The Combined Agency OVI Task Force of Montgomery County will be operating a sobriety checkpoint in Dayton this evening.

The checkpoint will operate from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m., on Gettysburg Avenue, according to the Dayton Police Department.

Dayton police, along with officers of the Combined Agency OVI Task Force, will be conducting a roadside check of drivers for alcohol and drug impairment.

The majority of the deadliest crashes occur throughout the weekends, the police department said.

Drivers are urged to have a plan to get home safely during the holiday weekend.
