Hillary Farr, a Dunbar High School student, was shot and killed in front of his family’s home on Alvin Avenue in September.

TRENDING STORIES:

His mother, Tierra Stark, is getting ready for her first Christmas without her oldest son.

“I was thinking about that yesterday, like it’s different not getting them texts,” Stark said.

She doesn’t know who killed her son, but she and other family members are confident Hillary knew his killer.

“Yeah, for sure they knew him, he knew them because he wouldn’t have walked outside,” she said. “He didn’t just walk outside on strangers. He wouldn’t had a stranger pull up to his house.”

Farr’s family told News Center 7 he loved and was good in school. He was a senior and played basketball for Dunbar.

His family said the 17-year-old also loved church and had organized a group prayer circle in the neighborhood to pray about the violence there the week before his death.

As shown on News Center 7 at 5:00, John Bedell asked Stark what Dayton Police have told her about finding and charging whoever is responsible for her son’s death.

“They do have an idea of who did it,” she responded. “So they said I will get some closure at some point, just may take some time. And I’ll be happy when I do, because at least if I know that much, I might be able to accept it a little better.”

She just wants justice for her son.

“Because my son was going to be something,” she said.

News Center 7 reached out to Dayton Police for an update on their investigation. A spokesperson for the department said detectives are “continuing to actively investigate the homicide of Hillary Farr.”
