Meth, psilocybin mushrooms found during drug bust in Butler County

BUTLER COUNTY — A man was arrested after a drug bust in Butler County on Thursday, according to Butler County Sheriff Richard Jones.

The Butler County Undercover Regional Narcotics Task Force (B.U.R.N.) and the Hamilton Police Department Neighborhood Police Section (NPS) Unit executed a search warrant in the 2300 block of Bender Avenue at approximately 12:30 p.m.

The search was part of an ongoing narcotics investigation.

While searching, agents seized approximately 200 grams of methamphetamine, psilocybin mushrooms, a 9mm handgun, and cash.

They arrested Cody Fitzgerald Schwegmann, 36, of Hamilton, on possession of drugs and having weapons while under disability charges, Jones said.

Authorities expect additional charges pending the results of a lab analysis.

“The B.U.R.N. Task Force will continue to target drug traffickers who poison our neighborhoods. You want to deal drugs in Butler County, we’ll leave the jail lights on for ya,” Jones said.
