DAYTON — Fireworks are going to cost more this fourth of July.

Inflation combined with supply chain issues are causing high prices this year, according to one local firework store.

News Center 7′s Kayla McDermott spoke to William Weimer, Vice President of Phantom Fireworks and he said they had to pass some of the burdens to customers.

“It’s bad for the customers that they’re burdened with the high prices, we, we had to pass on some of those prices, some of those price increases to the customers, we couldn’t bear them all,” said Weimer.

The cost of raw materials, gas, and labor has all gone up and that’s dramatically increasing the cost of fireworks.

Back in 2019, it cost roughly $8,000 to ship one crate of fireworks and now it’s up to $45,000 for the same shipment.

Due to all these challenges. overall costs are up over 35% across the industry, according to ‘The Voice’ of the Consumer Firework Industry, the Pyrotechnics Association.
