FIRST REPORT
Greenville police officers and Darke County Sheriff’s deputies are serving a warrant at a home where a man is accused of shooting his son on March 21.
Several officers are outside of the home, located in the 400 block of Central Avenue, and gunfire and other explosions have been reported. Officers could also be heard speaking into a bullhorn to someone on the home, saying “you are under arrest.”
Police have been at the home for at least an hour, and although it appears to be a standoff, a dispatcher referred to it as a police “situation” in which they are serving a warrant.
It is not clear at this time who is in the home. But on Monday Greenville police issued an arrest warrant for David A. Green, 50, who is the suspect in the March 21 shooting at that home. The Greenville resident is charged with felonious assault.
On the night of the shooting, a 25-year-old man who has not been identified, went door-to-door asking neighbors for help. A man who lives a few doors down from the victim said he saw the injured man walk by, with one side of his sweatshirt bloody, according to our media partner the Early Bird Newspaper.
The victim said he was shot after his father, armed with two guns, said he was going to kill him and opened fire, the neighbor told the newspaper.
The victim was flown by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital, and his condition has not been released.
We have a photographer at the scene this morning, and we’ll bring you the latest information as soon as possible.
