Upon arrival, crews found that the fire had started in the stove, then spread to the kitchen, and then went up the walls and through the rooftop, according to a West Milton Police official.
One female resident was inside the house when the fire started. She was asleep when she heard the smoke alarm go off, West Milton Fire Chief David Jay told News Center 7. She then smelled the smoke and went downstairs and saw the fire, which led her to call 911.
She was able to get out of the home without being injured.
Jay estimated that $130,000 worth of damage was done to the home between the fire damage in the kitchen and the smoke and water damage done to the rest of the house.
